In the production of oblate shell parts, industrial companies use the nonlinear finite element analysis provided by the FEMech Engineering Technology Association. The interlaminar shear stress acting between the lining structures is a particular focus. If these stresses are high, delamination can occur in the structural lining.
Analysis shows that all stress levels are within the permissible range. Obviously, due to the low modulus of polypropylene, the interlaminar shear stress is also relatively low. Based on this analysis, the housing portion should not cause any problems when it is pressed into an oblate shape.
The FRP structural layers are all made using the chemical company Hetron 980 resin. The housing is formed by laying a chopped glass fiber for circumferential filament winding and shaft unidirectional reinforcement. The unidirectional reinforcement layer must be carefully placed to ensure the desired properties of the laminate. The polypropylene lining material is attached to the FRP by embedding it into the polypropylene by means of a fabric lining.
The polypropylene-lined housing is shipped to the site after the winding of the shop floor using the oblate process. The sump was manufactured very smoothly and the sump parts were assembled.
At the time of this writing, the internal contacts of the polypropylene have been welded and the external FRP contacts are being completed. The water tank test will soon be carried out in the storage tank.
The use of the oblate method to make large diameter FRP containers with thermoplastic lining is a major advancement, opening up new applications for the production of double glazed steel.
Based on the development of such tanks, with the continuous development of technology and the accumulation of experience, it seems that there is also the possibility of producing large thermoplastic lining FRP containers with a diameter of 15 meters. (Finish)
